The police women and child’s bureau has convened a meeting with mobile phone operators on Friday to discuss banning access to porn sites via mobile phones, an official at the Police women and child’s bureau told Daily Mirror online.
According to the official, the bureau will obtain statements from the mobile phone operators before submitting a report to the Court and will later seek a ban on access to porn via mobile phones.
The bureau had earlier said that at least 40 porn websites could be accessed via mobile phones including some sites banned in Sri Lanka on the internet. (Daily Mirror online)

If this move is to prevent non-adults having access to porn on their mobile phones, then an easier (non-technical) solution would be to make it illegal for parents to provide these expensive mobile phones to their children, and/or for the confiscation of such phones if found in the possession of under-age children. They should also ensure that internet porn is not available to these kids via their PC's, but how many parents would know how to block these undesirable sites? The Police Women and Child's Bureau will never succeed in implementing 0% access to porn country-wide.
