Dear IGP may I suggest to you to uplift and maintain the lost dignity of the Police Force.I personally have the experience of Police atrocities and unwanted action by the Police.Do you really mean that only a handfull of Police Personnel resort to all Bribery and Corruption. No it's the other way about.Only a handful do not resort to all that. They take the mean advantage of their uniform. They have forgotten the fact that once they leave the Police Force, they are like deflated tyres.
Since of late many suspects sunder Police coustdyhad died under mysterious conditions..To overcome this situation,I suggest that when ever a suspect is taken to trace the hidden weapons ,a close relative of the suspect to be accompanied. Then the Public will have confidence in the Police.Further only Police personnell in uniform should be employed for arresting the suspects and not thge plain clothes men

It is utmost responsibililty of the police to protect the victim or in deed the offender until the court decides the fate. Police should pay compensation and take the police officers into court when a person been injured or killed while in their custody.

Same dialog repeated by many Police (IGP) officers as soon as they assume duty.

We criticize our Police because we interact with them during our daily routine. I appreciate the good work they do and what have been done in the past to protect us from the evil LTTE. They have a good slogan 'People Friendly Police', which I have personally seen inside Police Stations. A few thug-type police personnel and the traffic cops who indirectly ask for bribe is a menace to our Police Dept. Traffic cops are the most who interact with the general public, hence they should be trained well and should be disciplined. Hats off to the brave Police personnel.

I think they already work too close as a few got killed in the same mysterious manner. Its better to have the police at arm's length

The way things are going, the public would shudder even the thought of getting close to a policeman as the next thing one hears would be that the man has died under unfortunate circumstances.

Hypocrisy??The complaint I forward through the Tell IGP, internet facility about the misuse of police authority on a poor three wheel taxi driver, ended up only with I being given a reference number. In this I forewarned that these type of actions of few police personals aggregate the already sour relationships. But looks like the department swept this complain down the carpet and reaping its fruits.
