The Bodu Bala Sena organization staged a protest in front of the Piliyandala Police station this morning, urging the release of two individuals who were arrested by the Police.

According to the Bodu Bala Sena, they had taken a person who was allegedly involved in coversions and handed over to the Dehiwala Police. They said that the person was taken into their custody after the parents of a youth in the area had complained that their son was converted by him.

The Police had later released the person after bringing the two parties together and settling the matter.

Thereafter acting on a complaint by the family members of the released person, seven persons had been arrested by police on the charge of abducting him. Among the seven arrested and remanded are the parents of the youth who had allegedly been converted earlier.

The protest had been staged urging the police to release the seven persons who were arrested and two in remand custody. (Muditha Dayananda)

Anu.....The tone of your comments are doing more harm to Buddhism. Definitely not in keeping with Lord Buddha's teachings. Shameful and typical behavior of an illiterate individual.

Whatever teaching results in the increase of greed, hate or ignorance is not the Buddha Dhamma. It is quite evident what is being 'preached' hear. via DM Android App

that's because our monks are busy with politics and protests. the monks in US and UK do not indulge in such trivialities

Calistus Jayatilleke Monday, 15 October 2012 12:16 PM

This is sheer thuggery in the name of religion. These Buddhist monks seem to be engaged in various other things such as protests and politics abandoning their main occupation which should be preaching "Bana" and educating their followers on what is good and bad, especially in these days when the crime rate is on the increase.

how many true buddhist monks in any where in the world?.i think not more than 1000.all these are meat eating fake buddhists.

Sunil Shantha Monday, 15 October 2012 12:01 PM

These monks afraid that the people will see their hypocrisy & ignorance. Real nature is being revealed as we see on video .It is a shame on true Buddhism. It is sad.

    Daminda Monday, 15 October 2012 11:59 AM

Hello Anura, You don't know about buddha Sasana and Buddhism you only may be some person who look for Buddhism but you never find Buddha Sasana in US or UK this is the simple answer ...if you really read it what I said one day you will be understand and you will get ordain in Sri Lanka

    Em Monday, 15 October 2012 12:04 PM

That is what happens when Sinhala-Buddhism converts to politics

    puncha Monday, 15 October 2012 11:53 AM

Bodu Bala Sena is doing the Police work Of Sri- Lanka. salute Arrest all illegal work.

    Anu Monday, 15 October 2012 10:17 AM

Those idots can break Budda statues and convert buddist people to christians. For sure, OIC would have taken dollers from these idots.MF

    Lobo Monday, 15 October 2012 11:32 AM

What you don't realize is it will take a lot more than breaking clay statues to insult Lord Buddha who is above all that pettiness. Also whats wrong if someone wants to convert to another religion of his own free will? Do the Christians howl when other Christians convert to Buddhism or Islam? Your language is an insult to whatever religion you belong to.

    ravi Monday, 15 October 2012 11:31 AM

Anura here all thugs Monks i can tell one think to them if they don’t take care about their people some one else will do it when they are hungry feed them don’t tell them Bana.

    weha Monday, 15 October 2012 11:17 AM

If people want to change religion it is up to them (if it is for money or whatever is none of anyones business :) ). you cannot stop that. that is because no one is holding a gun on to you head and people have a free will.
but acting like this only will increase the number of people who wana convert because they are dissapointed with how the clergy is behaving.

    chaminda Monday, 15 October 2012 11:17 AM

    ???

    Anura Monday, 15 October 2012 11:03 AM

Who got converted to what and why these monks are asking the release of these people. Its shame that semi - educated monks are trying to rule a country. I have travelled the world. The best place to study Buddhism is US and UK. The monks there have really understood the teaching of Buddha.I learned a lot and compared to the monks in Sri Lanka, these monks are not even 5% close to them. US and UK were taught Buddhism by Sri Lankans, but now the situation is other way around.

    geriatrix Monday, 15 October 2012 11:10 AM

    i' m lost !!!

    Leo Monday, 15 October 2012 11:02 AM

Go ahead "Bodu Bala Sena"... Please make this a Sinhala-Buddhist country again.

    peiris Monday, 15 October 2012 10:56 AM

I guess first complain should be lodged against the "Mihidu" who converted Devanumpiyathissa and his country men. This is the era of extremism and these hamuduruwos are just product of politics of the opportunist. This nonsense should be stopped. More than anything this kills the true spirit of Buddhism

    Vicks Monday, 15 October 2012 10:45 AM

    ANTON Monday, 15 October 2012 10:24 AM
