Police arrest fraudster posed as First Lady's driver

Police arrested a man who allegedly posed as First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa’s driver and cheated another man of Rs.190,000 on the promise of securing employment at Bank of Ceylon.

Police spokesman Ajith Rohana said the arrest was made by the Police Special Investigations Unit.

The victim who is a resident of Kuliyapitiya lodged a complaint with the SIU when the suspect began to avoid him for weeks after promising him a job.

The suspect who is a resident of Deniyaya was arrested by the SIU during a raid carried out in Rajagiriya.

He was produced before the Kuliyapitiya Magistrate and was remanded. (Supun Dias)
