PM to leave for India tomorrow

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will leave for India’s capital New Delhi, tomorrow on a two-day official visit at the invitation of India’s Prime Minister Narnedra Modi.

During the visit, Prime Minister Wickremesinghe is expected to hold bilateral talks with Indian Prime Minister Modi, President Pranab Mukherjee, Foreign Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and several senior leaders of the Indian government.

The bilateral talks will focus on ensuring zonal peace and reconciliation by strengthening the friendly ties between the two countries.

The visit to India will be the first foreign visit undertaken by Premier Wickremesinghe after assuming duties.

His wife Maithri, Foreign Affairs Minister Mangala Samaraweera, Development Strategies and International Trade Minister Malik Samarawickrama, Prime Minister’s Secretary Saman Ekanayake and Additional Secretary Saman Athaudahetti will join the Prime Minister on this visit.

    No CEPA please. Indians are long term schemers. Our industrialists will never be able to do anything in India. They will impose various conditions out side CEPA. But CEPA will look good only on paper.
