Crude prices do increase over the winter in northern hemisphere and due to increased travel during festive/holidays. For example Australia petrel price is aud 1.45( slr 188) India ir 75 (slr 188) we are still cheaper but we have a higher tax I believe they are still selling at a loss at 159. We have to be rational before we bark.

Jagath Leanage Saturday, 15 December 2012 05:58 AM

Eventhough M.R. knows he will be scolded (because CNR is in the card), without any fear, he increased fuel prize. We have to thank R.W.

    Minister Saturday, 15 December 2012 06:51 AM

Tonight is the day for night races in Colombo. Just enjoy it and forget about fuel hike. That is why CPC chose this memorable day to increase fuel prices!!

    Noyon Saturday, 15 December 2012 07:17 AM

It was hilarious to read the comment made by "Poet" comparing the Petrol prices in Australia and India with the price in this "Chintana" land. He/She should also have shown a comparison of the average wages and C.O.I.

KEEP ON FLYING WITH MIHIN AIR.

    neo Saturday, 15 December 2012 04:09 PM

Mr poet, do you think that, person who works in Australia earns ( Rs 20,000/136 =147, Rs 50,000/136=367 or 100,000/136=735) $147, $367 or 735 per month? convert salary as well, not only the price of a petrol ltr. think before you bak.

    Cocowa Saturday, 15 December 2012 08:12 AM

Guys just understand the rationale behind this,
Since we've been hearing the news about UFOs our government made a super plan to protect Sri Lanka from the alien invasion.
They came up with plan, they increased the petrol prices now aliens would be shit scared to land their space ships in Sri Lanka.

    They saved us all.

why is this extra income for the govt now? when majority people are even struggling for 3 times meal a day... no use commenting.. even in nest election majority modayos are gonna vote for our Dutagemunu

    Shace-UK Saturday, 15 December 2012 05:32 PM

I am not in support of the current government...but to be frank fuel price in SL is still cheaper comparing to most countries...in UK petrol is £1.42(SLR 292) yet people can afford with the income...real issue in SL is not the fuel price its the economy, when average income is 15,000 SLR 159 per litre for fuel is almost impossible.

This is how we are going to pay for the petrol that is going to be used for the racing cars and the Lamborghini's.

    Lobo Saturday, 15 December 2012 02:48 AM

Once again the public is called upon to pay for the losses of an ailing corporation ridden with inefficiency and corruption while those responsible carry on regardless and unpunished.
