Peliyagoda UC member’s killing: Suspect arrested

Police today arrested one of the main suspects in the killing of Peliyagoda Urban Council Member Shyamila Jayaratne.

The 27-year-old suspect was arrested while he was in a rented house at Adiambalama in Katunayake. He is said to be a resident of Kadawatha.

Investigations had led to the recovery of a motorcycle, a face-covered helmet, a camouflage trouser and two mobile phones said to have been used in carrying out the killing which the Police believed would have been the result of a personal dispute.

They are on the lookout for three more suspects.
