The Air Force today said that the debris found in the seas off Aluthgama that was first believed to be a part of an aircraft pulley and it may actually have come from another type of vehicle or machine.

“This part may or may not have come from an aircraft. It is a piece of hardware but it’s not part of a landing gear of an aircraft. The letters ‘AN’ was engraved on the pulley. This part may have come from an army or Navy vehicle,” Air Force Spokesman Wing Commander Gihan Senerviratne said.

He said an electronic connector had also been found along with this piece of equipment. An expert from the Air Force was sent to the scene to investigate the incident.(Darshana Sanjeewa)

At least our EXPERTS have at the very start, put an end to a massive search operation, which our OTHER "EXPERTS" could have carried out to make the people forget their domestic problems!

You do not need any experts to find out what it is. Go to the Google, you can find all the details on this pulley. No need for any fuss,.

I fully agree with the Aero Guy and Punchi Banda. One of the parts is definitely an aircraft cable pulley. AN 210 6a can be google searched and there are so many results to confirm that. Even the parts are available on eBay. I dont think it would be too difficult to identify which type of air crafts use this particular pulley. Finding that info would easily lead to more info. via DM iPad app

These items look so old to be from the lost Malaysian Airlines aircraft. These may be from the vehicles that drifted away in the Tsunami

    tam Thursday, 29 May 2014 10:49 PM

must be from tsunami times via DM Android App

Aero Guy Thursday, 29 May 2014 04:36 PM

That's an aircraft cable pulley. AN-210-6A is the part number. Made out of phenolic, hence survived corrosion. Designed and manufactured for Cessna single engine aircrafts by Westinghouse.
