Overcrowding at the Deyata Kirula National Development Exhibition underway in Kandy forced organizers to suspend admissions for at least half an hour this afternoon.
The main gate at the exhibition site was closed a short while ago and an announcement was made that people will not be admitted inside for at least half an hour as a result of overcrowding.
Several people had earlier complained that they could not leave the premises after entering as the exit was too small to facilitate the crowd looking to leave at the same time.
Witnesses told Daily Mirror online that people including children were getting stuck at the exit while trying to make their way out. There were also complaints of poor medical facilities in place for people who were fainting while getting stuck in the crowd.

This is the sign of real freedom after end of bloody war. People need to live without fear, not the meals first and their expectation is a country without terrorism.
All the credit should go to the People's alliance Government who led the country towards wiping out terrorism, Heros of the armed forces, Police and the People who devoted for the souverinighty of the motherland.

I went there yesterday (sunday). The organisation of the exhibition was not good. Not enough directions for people to go and see. Crowd control too was not all that good. Three hours wasted not seeing anything of significance. Parking and traffic was atrocious especially for people coming from the Kandy side.
