A businessman had called a press conference at a leading hotel in Colombo to make a startling announcement. He revealed that their daughter had been forcibly taken away by the son of a powerful politician.

Gamini Ranasinghe, a businessman from Kirulapona,and his wife Indira complained that the politician’s son had arrived in a vehicle belonging to the ministry which his father was attached to and forcibly took away their daughter. They said that although they had complained about the matter to the Cinnamon Gardens Police and the National Child Protection and Probation Authority all their efforts had been in vain.

They said their daughter was still being held by the son of this politician. They said it had caused them great mental distress.

The parents have taken one solid year to come out with this canard. It is a canard, because if it had been true, as soon as Mr. Rajitha Senarathne left the party prior to the Presidential Elections, they would have reportred the matter to Mahinda Rajapakse.This is indeed funny. All the people in the opposition seem to be just waking out of their slumber now.
