Intra-party clash kills one

One person was killed and two others were injured when a brawl took place in the Bulathkohupitiya area in Kegalle between two groups in the early hours today.  

The victim who was stabbed with swords succumbed to his injuries at the Kegalle Hospital. A complaint has been lodged with the Kegalle police but no suspects have been arrested so far.

Peoples Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) Executive Director, Rohana Hettiarachchi said a short while ago that reports suggest that the incident was between two UPFA supporters.

However  Police have denied that the incident was related to the today Local Government Elections. (SD and OJ)
