Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Britain, Chris Nonis has not tendered his resignation to the External Affairs Ministry as reported in the foreign media, Government Spokesman and Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said today.

He said this in response to a question asked by the media at today’s cabinet briefing as to whether Dr.Nonis had resigned from his post.

The minister said it was reported that there had been some misunderstanding and a heated argument between one of the delegates who participated in the UN General Assembly Sessions and Dr. Nonis but he had not tendered his resignation.

When asked who was the delegate involved in the incident, Minister Rambukwella declined to reveal the name and said an investigation would be conducted into the incident.

However, foreign media citing a senior official of the Ministry of External Affairs had reported that Dr. Nonis had tendered his resignation to the Ministry.(Ajith Siriwardana)

Foreign media are reporting not only a heated argument but an assault on Dr Nonis. The government should take action against such news that destroy the good name of the country.

In UK however every one knows that the thug Sajin Vaz has assaulted Dr. Nonis. This thug was working for Trico in Dubai as a baggage handler. When MR was in Dubai before he was elected President this thug was driving him around Dubai showing a good time and MR said to him come and work for him. This thug has no qualification at all not even GCE o/l
