Activities in all universities were crippled today as non-academic staff members launched a countrywide strike demanding higher wages and other perks, threatening to continue their strike from February 29 onwards if the government fails to meet their demands.
Universities will continue to be closed tomorrow (Friday) due to a countrywide strike. The universities were forced to shut down as university lecture halls, laboratories, libraries, transport, administrative work, security, canteens and other services provided by university non-academic staff were stopped due to the strike.
