udaya Wednesday, 27 October 2010 06:08 AM
They must earn their own and contunie their studies, Govt. should not spent the tax payers money. Then they will realise.
Andare Wednesday, 27 October 2010 05:36 AM
Excellant !! Send these JVP goons to a rehabilitation center so that the students can continue their studies in peace. Mr. Minister take the corrective action right now.
malkanthi Wednesday, 27 October 2010 04:46 AM
The tension is rising and spreading to all universities, rather than having a discussion with student councils, and addressing their problem, taking rash decisions will no way reflect a good image of the minister concern.

High time to privatise the universities. People don't value the free education given to them now.
mallie Wednesday, 27 October 2010 04:00 AM
Law & order should be upheld in every square inch of the country.
Percy Mandawala Wednesday, 27 October 2010 03:10 AM
Threatening and attacking is not the way to handle student problems. If government resort to such barbaric methods, it will not be a solution but will lead to very unfortunate events as we have experience in the past.
Jacob Wednesday, 27 October 2010 02:49 AM
In other countries university students are always busy...studying or workingon part time jobs to pay for living and tuition... but, these fools get everything from government of from their parents and doing these nonsense...!
If these fools put their time to study at least English... they could become somebody...! What a waste of their time...!
Naren Senaratna Wednesday, 27 October 2010 02:31 AM
A very strong stance must be taken against university students who try their nonsense in future ... we as citizen dislike seeing our tax money being wasted on hooligans who want to waste their time/our money and not seriously study in university ... kick them out and give these opportunities to more deserving kids. The government must become absolutely iron fisted about this, and have a no nonsense policy. Enough is enough!
Keerthi Wednesday, 27 October 2010 02:26 AM
Very good decision. Law and order shud be implemented within the university.

Many of the rabble rousers are said to be those who have failed exams and are repeating. If this is so such jokers should be banned from entering the University during lecture hours and allowed to use the library only after such hours.

Strike, we must.

THESE UNRULY ELEMENTS ARE FUNDED AND GUIDED BY EXTERNAL FORCES TO PUT THE COUNTRY BACK INTO CHAOS.
THIS MENACE SHOULD BE ROOTED OUT ASAP.

Informed Dr. M. Silva immediately
Abdul Razeen Tuesday, 26 October 2010 06:04 PM
I wouldn't be surprised if we don't have to station the army in universities pretty soon. These hooligans are not only putting the future of their fellow students at risk, but they are also ruining the country's future by obstructing the education of the next generation that will take over the country.
