The Meteorology Department said today the prevailing drought will continue till September. “The rain fall can be expected by the first week of September when inter-monsoonal period begins.

But occasional rains can be expected in the afternoons for any part of the country. Colombo area may get some rain at any time of the day,” a spokesman for the department said. (Ajith Siriwardana)

This is the end result of the atmospheric nuclear testing by the Western countries from the 1940s to the 1980s. Realizing the harm they were causing they then conducted underground explosions of which the results are manifesting itself today by way of earthquakes in areas which never had them before.

There have been rainfall in the catchment areas of Castlereigh and Mousekele reservoirs as such there should have been no power cuts which saves about 4 million units per day but when the 300 Mw plant is in operation it can generate 7.2 million units per day and 20 million hydro units assuming a 5 day power cut this could be recouped in 7 days but now due to the power cuts the CEB would save 20x5=100million rupees as such the CEB and Power Ministry is happy to have power cuts at the slightest opportunity

sri lanka is famed for tropical country. Hambantota, Matale and other rurals areas had thick jungles and no any problem of raining. Now in the name of development and jealous of colombo district, all trees were cut and airport, harbour built for nothing. we are a small country and one harbour and one airport is much enough.
Now who is suffering- only poor and innocent people are suffering because of power cut due to short fall of rain. politicians are enjoying.
