The Chilaw Additional District Judge has ordered that no demonstrations or protest marches could be carried out near the Munneswaram Devalaya in Chilaw between August 13 and 22.

Judge K.K. Liyanage made the order based on a request by the Chilaw Police.

According to reports rumours were being spread that the Devalaya has organised its animal sacrifice ritual on the August 21 and that some people were planning to hold a protest in the vicinity of the Devalaya.

However, the Munneswaram Devalaya trustees had earlier announced that they were not organising any such ritual this year. (Jude Samantha)

Good stop the protest. Give a court order to stop the killing of poor animals. They need our help. There is a law for cruelty to animals. Sri Lanka?

India has 'retirement homes' for cows that has passed the productive age and excess unwanted bulls.

The owners of those animals leave them in those places with tears in their eyes but assured their animals will be well looked after till they die naturally.

    BUT

When the tearful owners leave the cattle are slaughtered and shipped to Dubai in reefer containers for processing, making India the worlds biggest exporter of beef.

Do we call this good economic management OR plain old hypocrisy ??
