Most of these people here have misunderstood what the prelate said in a very diplomatic way. 'No one is above the law' means, even the CJ has to obey the law. Read it again before you make comments.

Seriously. Honestly I never knew this to be true! I am learning as I grow!
frank hilary Saturday, 01 December 2012 05:38 AM
Very correct. CJ should be tried by a competent COURT and punished, if found guilty.
Jaleel Saturday, 01 December 2012 05:58 AM
Prelates as well as the US government seem to have similar views on this matter. They have taken the side of all citizens and their right to justice without interference.
ANTON Saturday, 01 December 2012 05:59 AM

No one can take the Law and Judicature in their hands.
Slowly slowly the democracy is being changed into anarchy, monarchy and into dictatorship in our country.
The time has come. the people should wake up and fight to free our country from devils. .

Calistus Jayatilleke Saturday, 01 December 2012 10:12 AM
Indeed a bold statement from the venerable Maha Nayakes but in reality, this government now does not care for opinions of religious dignitaries as has been proved many times iin the past. Some uncouth MPs had even threatened the Maha Nayakes on many occasions. As things to, the Parliament will soon assume judicial powers and start hearing cases and some over-enthusiastic Hela Urumaya chaps might even propose that the President should be appointed as Chief Justice as well as Maha Nayake; Saadu, Saadu.
richardson Saturday, 01 December 2012 08:33 PM
We have heard these before, no body listens, just broken records.
Roxy Wellawatte Saturday, 01 December 2012 10:36 PM
Mahanayake is above everyone in Colombo. Kandy is 1600ft above sea level. Of course he is below the people of Nuwara Eliya.

I am really happy to see the statement made by Maha Nayaka Thera of the Asgiriya Chapter. Sanity prevails. The great Buddhist phyloshopy at work.

That is very nice to make comments like this. US mind their business and the Mahanayake therea mind his business. That is good for both parties
Lobo Saturday, 01 December 2012 01:43 AM
Should read 'No one should be above the law' because we know, and there are enough examples, how the influential abuse their position and authority to by-pass the law and get away even with murder.
samba Saturday, 01 December 2012 01:41 AM
my God, wimal weerawansa will say now that Mahanayaka thera ia also a NGO agent or CIA agent.
