The Chief Opposition Whip John Amaratunga while rejecting media reports that he would join the Government said he had no intention of accepting the post of Speaker or any other Government post.Mr. Amaratunga arrived in Sri Lanka early this morning after a visit to the Middle East with the President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

If his intention was only to visit the Holy Land and worship there, he could have easily done the trip just like the other Christians do by paying from their own pocket but not at public expense The UNP which finds fault with the many overseas trips of the President with large entourages on public account, has itself fallen into the trap.
