New Kohuwala traffic plan

By Supun DiasA special traffic plan will be implemented with effect from 6.00am tomorrow from Kohuwala to Havelock road, Police media spokesman Prishantha Jayakody told Daily Mirror online. The special traffic arrangement will be implemented as a measure to control the massive traffic which prevails in the mornings and also in the evenings.
Under the new plan Stafford Avenue will be closed for vehicles heading from Pamankada to Highlevel road. Vehicles can enter Highlevel road by turning left from the Pamankada road block through the old Havelock road and Maya Mawatha.
Vehicles will not be allowed to use the old Havelock road to travel from W.A De Silva road to Kohuwala. Vehicles will have to use Maya Mawatha and enter Highlevel road and through Stafford Avenue up to Pamankada and then towards Kohuwala.
Vehicles heading from Havelock road can use the Maya roundabout and through the W.A De Silva Mawatha towards Pamankada, SP Jayakody said.

RDA authorities should widen the road patch between Pamankada junction and Pamankada bridge on old Havelock road where Stafford road/Sarangakara road/ Havelock road meet. This patch which is meant for widening has not been done due to unexplained reasons.

Kohuwala is our area. there are many vehicles travelling on this road. One of lanka's busiest areas must admit.

Thanks! This will give some structure to the traffic at kohuwala, pamankada junctions. This was well needed for the last few years.

Please widen the road. The residents were paid compensation and given flats many years ago. Why doesnt the Government take any action. They are breaking shops on other roads why cant they come and bulldoze the pamankada junction area and widen the road.

Give some time man, once things get on track it will be a good strategey just as they did on Galle Road.

I suggest an aerial bridge( elevated highway ) from Maya avenue roundabout to Pamankada junction( bridge). Taxpayers deserve a better and a faster solution.
