New Bishop of Colombo elected

Rt. Rev. Diloraj Canagasabey, the Archdeacon of N’Eliya has been unanimously elected the new Bishop of the Colombo Diocese of the Anglican Church. The position was previously held by Rt. Rev. Duleep Kamil De Chickera and he stepped down from the position with effect from December 31, 2010 after ten years.

    The unanimous election of Rt. Rev. Dhiloraj Ranjan Canagasabey as the 15th Bishop of Colombo will hearald a new era and a season of the Lord's blessings not only upon the Church of Ceylon but also the whole nation.

    Here is a truly godly man of compassion and love, integrity and truth, courage and humility who walks in the ways of the Lord Jesus Christ. A man for God and a man for others!

    Let's all continually pray for him and his family and co-operate with and support him as he shepherds the Diocese of Colombo through what may be difficult and trying times.
