WE NEED ACADEMICALLY QUALIFIED & EDUCATIONIST TO BE THE MINISTER OF HIGHER EDUCATION.
Akila Viraj, by the way what is your educational achievement?
Which Grade , which school, College, University??????
MM Wednesday, 25 July 2012 11:13 AM
Please don't play with heigher education system for politics. Lot of politicians say today education system is not match with the industry need. Main problem with the economy and the education system. Sri Lankan youth need more heigher education. Sri Lanka should have take 60% of student who passed the A/L. For thie there is need of 40 universities.
Imran Hussein Wednesday, 25 July 2012 11:29 AM
'Mr. Rajapaksa has assured he will do justice to all students. But this should be a comment made by the Higher Education Minister and not by an MP. Maybe he should be made Higher Education Minister'.
Cant understand why all these hue and Cry are for?
Akila asked a fair question, why an MP but not a Minister?
MERWIN. Wednesday, 25 July 2012 11:29 AM
He should be Minister without portfolio. He can make find solutions to all the blunders by other Minister. or He should become pry Minister.
Yehiya Wednesday, 25 July 2012 11:41 AM

These are the specimen of future UNP statesmen!! What a shame ? Dont know even to make a rational statement. If someone trying to help those affected students, why the hell making a jealous statement?
Farzan - Kalutara Wednesday, 25 July 2012 12:18 PM
This small chop is higher education. It is similar to the burial of higher education which was killed by current ministers.
kuimar Wednesday, 25 July 2012 11:20 AM
Hi Kariyawasam., please grow up man & make some sensible statements.
alex Thursday, 26 July 2012 03:15 AM

Nifrazmaestro Thursday, 26 July 2012 04:26 AM
Those days politics was totally away from other stuff, but unfortunately at present it's found everywhere, every nook and corners of the country.
pity to say that, SL will not be a wonder of Asia, perhaps wonder of Africa..!
Sathutu Dawasa Thursday, 26 July 2012 05:06 AM
Wise comment by MP Akila. There is certain hidden depth in it . All pluses to Rajapaksha's and minus to ministers. That is the gospel truth most cannot understand this basic.
Matalan Thursday, 26 July 2012 05:35 AM
Most comments have got it wrong, I'm afraid. It's very clear MP Kariyawasam said and meant it sarcastically. He's asking shouldn't the Higher Education Minister be saying this? How can a lowly MP promise such?
Amarathunga Chandika Thursday, 26 July 2012 06:09 AM
No. Namal is a ideal minister for Women's affairs.
Fair N Square Thursday, 26 July 2012 08:44 AM

Please don't mess up education system for politics. Appoint some what professional and experienced person. The same thing happen student sat for AL 1997, rank changed some people miss the opportunity at the second release of results. Now the problem is accuracy of the calculation and data entering so all de peoples dont belive the system. So make sure good and responsible administrater. Our universities has a limited capacity, all de people must understand it and must pressure gov to increased number of universities and intakes.

nona G. Wednesday, 25 July 2012 09:13 AM
meaning is that Rajapakshas' free hitting and trying to scoring after every debacle.
Andrew Pitugala Wednesday, 25 July 2012 09:30 AM
Education is the life blood of our Nation. The problem is the involvement of Politicians where it should be totally handled by Academics without any political interferance. Let the present Ministers and anyone who aspires to be Minister first sit the A level exam and do a Post Graduate degree in education.
mangala Wednesday, 25 July 2012 09:25 AM
Welcome Hon Namal rajapaksha, you can do a good Job.
Kati Wednesday, 25 July 2012 09:09 AM
just because Namal made a comment on behalf of the students does not mean that he should be made minster of higher education. Mr Kariyawasan, where do you come from??
Sapumal Bandara Wednesday, 25 July 2012 09:45 AM
