Muttiah Muralitharan is now the second highest wicket taker in World Cup history, after registering his 56th dismissal in the 11th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 against Pakistan which was played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

He reached this mark with the dismissal of Umar Akmal for 10. Previously, Murali was tied for second place with Pakistani pace legend Wasim Akram, both having taken 55 world cup wickets.

Glen McGrath holds the overall record with his 71 World Cup dismissals. Only three bowlers have taken over 50 wickets in crickets marquee event. Muralitharan is the highest wicket-taker in both Test cricket and in One Day Internationals (ODIs).

He dismissed Gautam Gambhir on February 5, 2009 in Colombo to surpass Wasim Akram's ODI record of 502 wickets and overtook West Indian Courtney Walsh's record of 519 Test match wickets to become the  all time highest wicket-taker in May 2004.

    Enough is enough.
Give the place to someone younger so he will be another Murali someday.
