The United National Party (UNP) said today that the country would prosper under President Mahinda Rajapakse’s leadership and a UNP led government as this would benefit both the UPFA and the UNP.

“A UPFA president and a UNP led government would be the best option for the country,” UNP MP for Galle District Gayantha Karunatilleke told journalists a short while ago.

He added that that a UNP led government with incumbent President Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Executive would also minimize any undemocratic moves made by both parties. (YP)

    Monday, 22 March 2010 07:49 AM

It already is, as most of the ministers in the Government are from UNP. He can also join in, if he wants.

    Monday, 22 March 2010 08:31 AM

Ofcause YES, if the general voters understand by what it means. First the UNP government should bring a no-confidence motion against dissolving the parliment after 2 yrs term. Can they do thaT?
