While rejecting Minister Rajitha Senaratne’s claims that 21 vehicles had been assigned to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Mr. Rajapaksa’s office said all the vehicles assigned to his security detail were withdrawn and that has jeopardized his security.
Mr. Rajapaksa’s office said only 6 vehicles had been provided to the former president.
It said all the vehicles assigned to former president’s security detail were withdrawn on 03 March 2015
Issuing a statement Mr. Rajapaksa’s office said even though 108 soldiers and 105 policemen had been assigned to the former president’s security detail, there were no vehicles to transport them.
The statement added that the lack of vehicles to transport Mr. Rajapaksa’s security personnel had jeopardized the former president’s security.
Cabinet spokesman minister Rajitha Senaratne said at a press conference yesterday that the former president had been provided with two high security vehicles, one ‘dummy’ vehicle, one Defender jeep, one Toyota Land Cruiser and one double cab.
He further said that 108 soldiers and 105 policemen have been assigned for the protection of the former president and that these security personnel have been provided with three double cabs, one Land Cruiser, two vans, one bus and eight motorcycles for their use.
Give him about 25 CTB buses so that he can use them for his propaganda meetings as well.

Rajitha is a dentist who opens his mouth at the wrong time.He will jump to any side to be in power for his own sake. In Janurary nearly 50% of the people were behind him and now more than 75%. Be very careful, if any thing happens to Mr. Mahinda god will have to save you people .He is been victimised with out proof. Be reasonable Mr. Mahinda got us out from the biggest mess of the century .If he was greedy for money will he ever end the war? Crooks exist all over .He can not be blamed for other peoples miss doings. The same way one can not blame Mr.Ranil for what happened in the bank recently. We have to be very fair.

Remember what happened to Lakshman Kadirgamar? No need to have a repeat. Not that I am a big fan of the former dictator, but one cannot ignore the fact that many LTTE sympathizers who harbor a grudge against him for crushing terrorism may try to take a potshot now that security in the country is relaxed. Therefore allow security professionals to assess his threat level and recommend and implement adequate security
Mara Thursday, 26 March 2015 03:11 PM
Well, he sent him to a place of safety, perhaps mr too should take some time there
Lakshman De Silva Thursday, 26 March 2015 10:49 AM
Mahinda Rajapaksa is not the President of Sri Lanka anymore. Like when JR Jayewardena was retired, he was given only his car and and two Defender jeps for the STF protection detail. This allocation is absurd as too many and a few vehicles will be suffice with around 30 STF or Army commnados in three shifts to gurad him. This allocation is to generous
Nims Thursday, 26 March 2015 02:07 AM
He needs 108 soldiers, 105 policemen and 26 vehicles for his security??? I am sure he needs some for his family too. But Hon Ex President please be informed that you too have to travel on the roads just like others. No priority please. We had enough during your time

you and your family together brought prosperity, peace to our country. thanks for that from the bottom of my heart. then you ruined the same country which you saved with your family, friends, corruption, thakkadi ministers, kattadiyas, racists etc...etc.....we miss a brave leader, your family is awaiting court case. one brother runaway and one brother has no place to run. we all losers in this sorry saga. good lesson to all future politicians in this country but anybody will learn is a big question mark.

sir because of you today we go all around the country in peace. There may have been others who contributed for this good cause but you played a big role in this battle. We respect you sir. You are a good soul.. People around you ruined you. You are our hero.. My hero! You saved many lives. We are with you sir. One day I will tell my children about you. You are our king , our lion! Salute sir !

For a retired stateman, I think the number of personnel provided is excessive and six vehicles is more than adequate. How many more he wants? A dozen white vans? Some Sherman Tanks? Another 500 commandos? And why does he want such a security outfit? He must realise that people rejected him at one of the fairest of elections and accept the verdict.

For a man who boasts of a 5.8 million fools who he thinks love him, what does he need so much security for? He should thank his lucky stars that he has better security than what he bestowed upon CBK when she retired!!!

Surely if he is loved and adored by so many ..if someone tried to kill him .....there would be a queue of people prepared to catch a bullet for him...so therefore no need for security ...money saved !!!

Do the numbers people, 108 105 a total of 213 over 3 shifts is 71 per shift. This will be divided over guarding his residence and escorts. If he has 50 escorting him the 6 vehicles some carrying 8 others 12 are more than sufficient
lionheart Thursday, 26 March 2015 08:06 AM
You are traveling around to promote yourself again as a political candidate. 62k and increasing number have had enough of you. Get off the news . You ruined everything for us and only supported your bootlickers. Though the present government is not perfect, it is miles and streets ahead of you in ways that matter to the public. Not in ways that matter to crooks, hoodwinkers, criminals and quick buck earners.

If he needs transportation for his security team , there are patriotic Sri Lankans, willing to send passenger transportation vehicles, to Sri Lanka, on his safety issues. He is the only premier to eradicate terrorism in Sri Lanka.Unfortunately, YAHAPAALANYA is giving life back to those terrorists. All they need is to stay in power at the cost of coriander, hoppers and a cup of plain tea.

You are our ‘wannabe’ king, who gave us new infrastructure and ‘stole’ from the country and the people. Nobody would want to harm you, other that the starving people you stole from and hurt. You are my ‘Zero’ and will never want to see a person like you become president. How do you sleep at night? Don’t you have a conscience? You don’t need security, you need a new heart and soul.

What ever said about MR he finished the war and the sinhala majority is with him. So if something happens to him there could be another 1983 situation and a blood bath. politicians should not play this dangerous game that could have dire consequence to the entire country.

So many vehicles and so many security persons for an ex president when in his time he did not give Chandrika anything although he was in that position because of her. She had to go to court to get her security so what is he talking about now.??

I there is a security threat, then he better be staying away from crowds, and stay safely at home.
