Former President and former SLFP Chairman Mahinda Rajapaksa, who rendered a yeoman service by ending the war, did a serious damage to the party by extending the term of office, Colombo University’s Professor Sarath Wijesooriya said today.

Professor Wijesooriya making the guest speech at the SLFP convention in Polonnaruwa this evening said that some good work had taken place during the tenure of Mahinda Rajapaksa but his move to extend the term of office had done a negative impact to the SLFP.

Mr. Rajapaksa looked at President Sirisena and smiled, when Professor Wijesooriya made the comment.
