MR presents official invitation to the Pope

President Mahinda Rajapaksa handed over the official invitation to Pope Francis today at the Vatican Apostolic Palace for the Pope to visit Sri Lanka in January.

The President briefed the Pope on post war development in Sri Lanka, rehabilitation of child soldiers and the growth in health, education as well as power and energy sectors in the country. He had also explained the Pope that religious harmony was established in the country despite negative reports being circulated to the contrary.

The Pope had told the president that he was keen to visit Sri Lanka.

    why MR should go for it? in other countries also head of state goes to invite pope? Actually speaking this is public money he waste, really speaking Pontiff Father should have rejected this kind of invitation as its a waste of poor public money.
    I am a catholic i don't appreciate politically motivated actions like this (does not even leave the religion out of politics )
