All Members of Parliament (MP’s) who occupy official residence at Mawidwela have been told to vacate the premises within the next four weeks as they are no longer MP’s, Deputy Secretary General of Parliament W.B.D Dassanayake told Daily Mirror online.
The MP’s have also been instructed to pay any electricity and water bills that have been billed after Parliament was dissolved and to transfer existing telephone lines to their personal address as they are now ordinary citizens.
Earlier this week, the security provided to all MP’s were withdrawn on the instructions of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mahinda Balasuriya under the same pretext.

What about their vehicles?!
A suggestion; do what is done in most countries. Pay an allowance for transport and living to all M.Ps. Then there will be no recycling of vehicles and our roads also will be better kept!!

This is standard procedure. If this was not done, there will be an audit querry. Former MP's can leave at their leasure.

This doesnt apply to anyone who is a minster or a deputy minister. Since almost everyone in the UPFA are either ministers or deputy ministers, they get to keep all their perks.
