Moves to re-export vehicles from H’tota

Vehicles exporters of Japan and Thailand were mulling the idea to send vehicles to Hambantota harbour to re-export them to other countries, Harbour Project Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardena said.


Representatives of the Associations of used vehicles in Japan and Thailand arrived in the Hambantota harbour and observed its facilities yesterday.



The minister said that 547 re-exports have been completed by the Colombo Harbour in 2011 while 144,851 vehicles were re-exported from Hambantota Harbour up to now. (M.N.Piyaratne)
