More deserters to be arrested

The Army said that investigations are underway to arrest 29,092 more deserters who did not report for duty and failed to appear during amnesty periods, Military spokesman Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasuriya said.

He said that the Military already arrested 36,308 deserters during the last three years and up to March 31, this year.(Supun Dias)

    This army with 200,000 soldiers had 36,308 arrested for desertion plus another 29,092 absconding (65,400) or 30% desertion rate.

    Our army is250,000 strong? Number of desserters about 65,000. That is about 26% of the army.
