SLTB bus services will be increased to 5000 this week to meet the bus services requirement for the increased number of passengers this Christmas season, the Transport Ministry said today

Transport Minister, Kumara Welgama said that SLTB buses will be increased to 1200 in Ja-ela, Puttalam, Negombo and Moratuwa. In addition a special bus service will be provided for the Hatton-Colombo bus route.

The Minister said that train services from Fort to Kandy will also be increased from December 24 to January 2 to meet the necessary requirement of the passengers. “Bus and train services will be extended furthermore depending on the necessity,” Welgama said.

The Minister added that if there is not enough SLTB bus or train services for the public, complaints can be made to 0773040995 or 0117208100. (Olindhi Jayasundere)

What we really need are not more buses but unclogged roads so that we can go from here to there in time and also affordable fares.

This is interesting news which I hear during every festival in Sri Lanka. Why not run all these buses everyday!!
