Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to protect the rights of Sri Lankan Tamils, the Indian government said today.

"Modi is committed to save the life and rights of Tamils in Sri Lanka," newly sworn-in State Minister Radhakrishnan said.

Replying to a query by Tamil parties regarding the invitation extended to Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa to attend Mr. Modi's swearing-in ceremony, he said the Indian Government was concerned about the problems faced by the Tamils. (Business Standard)

The Tamil peoples rights were taken away in 1956 with the passing of the Sinhala Only Law, which deprived the tamil people of jobs and segregated the Tamil people from the Sinhala people.

Thondaman accompanied the PREZ for the innaugaration. That mean GOSL take care of Indian Tamils in SL.

If he is going to protect Tamils in Sri Lanka he will have to protect Tamils in other countries too why only in Sri Lanka then Middle East counties will protect their Muslim too here so we do not want Sri Lanka government our kind request for those who seek help from other counties pls migrate n live with them Sri Lanka is independent country with immigrants from India n Pakistan so it is not fair that those counties try to grab part of Sri Lanka for their migrants
