A female Anesthetist from Matara hospital who went missing while on her way to Galle on Friday was found in Anuradhapura, Police said.

She was found when she was staying at a pilgrim’s rest in Anuradhapura.  She had told the police that she had gone to Anuradhapura to offer a” Bodhi Puja” to invoke blessings to her sick father.

Dr. Mrs. Erandi Kulasingyhe (32) had gone missing from Friday night (24) after she left the hospital and was on her way home at Hikkaduawa. IGP N.K.Ilangakoon has ordered the Colombo Crime Division to conduct investigations in addition to the two police teams appointed by Senior DIG Southern Province Chandana Wickremaratna.
Dr. Mrs. Kulasinghe’s husband Army Major Dr. Janitha Ruwan Dayananda (32) told Galle police that he received the last call from his wife when she was passing the Ahangama town and after that her mobile phone was dead. Police said they were now conducting investigations based on the incoming and outgoing calls on her mobile phone.  Dr. Mrs. Kulasinghe, from Kalutara had been an anesthetist attached to the Matara General hospital for about two years.

Inquiries revealed that she had been staying in a rented house in the Uyanwatta area from where she travelled to hospital daily. Last Friday she had been on duty at the hospital from 2 pm to 5 pm and left for Hikkaduwa around 5.30 pm by car driven by her. However she had gone missing after 6.50 pm. A senior police official said investigators recovered several letters written by her,  a laptop and medicine used by her for some ailment for a long time from her room that would be helpful in their investigations. He said the circumstances that led to the doctor’s disappearance were yet to be established.   Matara SSP Deshabandu Thennakoon, SP Sisira Kumara, Actg. HQI Matara Krishantha Lokuge, OIC Women and Children Bureau Waruni Bogahawatta, OIC Crime Investigation Branch Nuwan Wijethunga and a team of officers of the Colombo Crime Investigation Division are conducting inquiries.

All's well that ends well but why did she not inform someone known to her about this?

    Lal Monday, 26 November 2012 10:04 AM

Yes, it would appear there is something missing here. Why would a wife go to Anuradhapura from Galle without husband’s knowledge? I feel both husband and wife are hiding something here. Either they are in dispute over something or they are already separated.

    Fazli Monday, 26 November 2012 08:34 AM

Certainly its none of my concern ! Yet misterious !

    patriot Monday, 26 November 2012 06:18 AM

Why didn't she inform someone before she went to Anuradhapura? Something fishy!

    Asanka Monday, 26 November 2012 06:46 AM

Doctors especially Anaesthetists should be more responsible. She tells her Husband that she's caught up in a traffic jam in galle and then she's found in Anuradhapura. I am really suprised how such absent minded people can become Doctors let alone Anaesthetists. What if an excessive dose of general anaesthetic is given to a Patient ?

    Murshid Monday, 26 November 2012 06:50 AM

If she had gone voluntarily, the husband should be fined a heavy penalty for giving a false complaint. This had wasted the resources and time of the Police. Also, Police salaries are paid by us "The Tax Payers" and not the Government.

Lone Ranger Monday, 26 November 2012 04:57 AM
