Million dollar scam: 17 Chinese arrested

Seventeen Chinese including six women were arrested by the CID at Rajagiriya today on charges of having defrauded more than two million dollars from several banks in China, police said.The Chinese police are carrying out investigations with permission from the Interpol Branch in Sri Lanka. The Chinese police are being assisted by the CID.
Police also recovered several computers and other equipment used by the suspects who are being detained pending deportation.
