Milk powder companies today warned that if they were not allowed to increase the price of milk powder at least by Rs.46, the country could expect a massive shortage of milk powder within the next few weeks.

At a joint news briefing held a short while ago, milk powder manufacturers said the minimum current price of Rs.244 of a 400g packed of milk powder should be raised to at least Rs.290.

“Although the price of milk powder has been increasing in the world market, locally we have not been able to keep up with the increasing prices. As a result we are no longer able to import milk powder,” the manufacturers said adding that if the Consumer Affairs Authority did not authorize a price revision for milk powder, a scarcity of milk powder could be expected within a few weeks. You are correct that price increases happen in every country, but we have to consider the percentage of money consumers pay for these things in each countries..

Well, when wheat flour prices went up, our super patriots called it "Paanpiti Thrasthavadaya" (wheat flour terrorism). Now they have another chance to shout "kiripiti thrasthavadaya". According to them all these things are not conducive for our health and should be avoided. Ultimately, everybody will end up eating grass!

Gas, Petrol, Flour, Milk prices increases all countries in the world. There is no exception, be it in US, China, India or Dubai.
This is the bitter truth. No government is able to cushion or insulate consumers for longer and steep prices increases in global market. We are fortunate when compared with prices increases in Europe where they claim that they produce milk.
