Perumal Tuesday, 28 May 2013 09:09 AM
Our country has no other problems, so they create problems and make a furore about it
Namal Tuesday, 28 May 2013 09:18 AM
should have named it as Mahinda, at the moment its more destructive than Mahasen..
Sujee Tuesday, 28 May 2013 09:31 AM
Storm in a tea cup !!!
Sanje Tuesday, 28 May 2013 09:38 AM
I thought it was re named as Tropical "Pavithra".
#BUSHAYYA# Tuesday, 28 May 2013 10:13 AM
Mahasona kiyala danna
Patriot Tuesday, 28 May 2013 10:24 AM
No one cares mate.
How many emails have you sent protesting the corruption seen on a day to day basis in all government departments?
People ignore the big issues, but get their junkies in a twist over these minor things
GC Tuesday, 28 May 2013 12:16 PM
This way, if your child is given the name of a national hero and he turns out to be a criminal, then the parents can be taken to task for insulting the good name!
GC Tuesday, 28 May 2013 12:18 PM
Don't they have better things to do (forecastng) and don't you have better things to do and worse worries in life?
PRASANNAJIT Tuesday, 28 May 2013 08:39 AM
There are so manu people even now by the name Mahasen. It was interpreted the wrong way. Anyway it is recorded now by that name worldwide.
doggydog Tuesday, 28 May 2013 04:15 PM
Oh come on...there are kids named "Maheesha" which purely means "bull"
C.K.Lankaputhra Tuesday, 28 May 2013 09:34 PM
Why the Mets forgotten the most appropriate cyclonic name?
Sonali De Silva Tuesday, 28 May 2013 10:27 PM
Naming a cyclone is nothing compared to the hell that we are being dished out by the politicians. This is humiliation of the public.
Be fair...... Wednesday, 29 May 2013 02:16 AM
Whats the positive impact after the apology? nothing.......
Thats how dud we are, sorry state of affairs
Punny Pellow Wednesday, 29 May 2013 03:03 AM
AHASEN may have been more appropriate!. Punny how the letter M made such a difference and caused unexpected havoc after the cyclone had gone away!!.
Laminate Wednesday, 29 May 2013 06:19 AM
Topic to laugh!
Tommy Thursday, 30 May 2013 12:36 AM
We also feel sorry for our met department!
Mahaweli Tuesday, 28 May 2013 07:28 AM
Closing of the stable is useless once he horse left.
(ASSAYA GIYATA PASSE ISTHALE WAHALA WEDAK NE)
Thinker Tuesday, 28 May 2013 05:50 AM
haha.. the meteorology dept. probably thought of having a naming competition with the US cyclone names. Didn't put a lot of thought into it..
Merry Tuesday, 28 May 2013 06:16 AM
I don't get why this is such a problem, it's just a name. Plus the storm has come and gone and our ones are still fretting over this when there are more important issues. Extremely laughable.
Deva Tuesday, 28 May 2013 06:25 AM
Nobody in this country cares about which name given to a cyclone. we have more issues than that
N. Bandara Tuesday, 28 May 2013 06:25 AM
What's in a name? Sri Lankans please not you should not name your kids too with such great names.
Jalba Tuesday, 28 May 2013 06:47 AM
Police got hold a thief whose name also Mahasen
Labby Tuesday, 28 May 2013 06:47 AM
Instead of naming it Mahasen maybe they should have named it Mahesan; after that storming PLOTE leader.
Ranjith Silva Tuesday, 28 May 2013 07:00 AM
This guy earlier denied and tried to escape.
So, we will rename the Director of Met as "Mahasona"
Ranjith Amarsinghe Tuesday, 28 May 2013 07:11 AM
I vehemently protested to the met department on the very next day by email asking for an apology but upto now the met department did not have the courtesy to even to acknowlege receipt.
habeeb Tuesday, 28 May 2013 05:49 AM
MET at Best...: Admitting the fault and tendering apology.
GC Tuesday, 28 May 2013 07:29 AM
Why is a name a big deal? Why do people worry about such passing things? It is better to apologise when the weather forecast is wrong.
Namal Baby Tuesday, 28 May 2013 07:35 AM
I got 99 problems but "Mahasen" ain't one...!!
Piyal Tuesday, 28 May 2013 07:55 AM
Ekatath mahinda kiyala danna thibbane
BuffaloaCitizen Tuesday, 28 May 2013 08:00 AM
It is not a public disapproval, it is just a minority of fanatically ignorant jobless but powerful fellows behind this.
Nadi Karunaratne Tuesday, 28 May 2013 08:07 AM
Like we have not got bigger things to worry about -like paying the electricity bill for starters. Don't worry Met Office apologies not remotely necessary.
Ruvin P Tuesday, 28 May 2013 08:14 AM
Why cannot you call it as "tropical Mervyn" or "Tropical Rohitha" or "Tropical Ramith"
SureshP Tuesday, 28 May 2013 08:15 AM
It was not named after a king. It was named after a ordinary man who discovered it. If a man can be called Mahasen, does it mean that he is not allowed to discover a cyclone? What other things can't he do?
