A man was arrested with gold biscuits worth over Rs.10 million hidden in his rectum early this morning while arriving from Dubai, by the custom officials. The biscuits said to be 24 Karat gold and made in Switzerland, weighed close to 1800 grammes.

This is reportedly the largest haul that a suspect has tried to smuggle into the country in his rectum.

During questioning, the 48-year-old resident of Trincomalee had said he was paid Rs. 100,000 for smuggling in the gold.

The raid was carried out at the Airport arrival lobby when the suspect had arrived to the country from Dubai in a Sri Lankan Airlines flight at 7.30 am. (Nirmala Ferdinandus)

Like what Panda said, I sent my used phone by mail to my wife declaring it. It was held at Trincomalee and wife informed to come and collect it. She has to travel a distance of 400km up and down. It was opened and she was charged Rs 800.00. But when pasengers bring in 2 or 3 or dozens of mobile phones while returning from Middle East or any other place, these are not checked or doesn.t need to go though customs or Trinco style procedures. So the correct path is always discouraged here in Sri Lanka

Will see what happens at last, and how much will be seized and how much will dissapear like Heroin. The joke is that when I brought a new TV they never charged any duty and I again took it back abroad. But when I was bringing it back again home after using some time abroad they recorded it as an item I have purchased through my duty free allowance.

Wow! The rectum, of all places, has now become the most common repository for very valuable stuff like gold. One is now convinced that the story going round the internet about how the that place became king among the various body parts, is after all not a joke!
