The Panadura-Walana Anti Vice Squad arrested a middle aged woman known as ‘Mali madam’ who allegedly procured prostitutes to brothels, hotels and guest houses in the Mt. Lavinia area and seized a super luxury car used by the suspect for the illegal trade.

Inquiries revealed that the woman who was a resident of Mt. Lavinia had been carrying on this racket over a long period and had charged more than Rs.15, 000 to procure a young woman. The woman was arrested by a police team lying in ambush, when she had brought a woman to a leading hotel in Mt. Lavinia as arranged with the police decoy.

According to a senior police official, the woman’s clients had been leading businessmen and prominent personalities. (H.M.Dharmapala and Kusal Chamath)
