Current Sri Lankan cricket captain Mahela Jayawardena was bought for US$1.5 million at the IPL auction this morning. Jayawardena was bought by the Delhi based franchise the 'Delhi Daredevils'. Champion off spinner Muttiah Muralitharana was bought by "Royal Challengers Bangalore" for US$220,000.

IF the money is brought to SL that is... what IF he has an off shore account? sigh let em bring in the money and spend it... the economy thrives when the money is rotated... Stop making ppl go and invest in foreign countries.... Looks like the IPL capitalist are taking ques from the USA where investment bankers on Wall Street, highly paid CEO's, college coaches and professional athletes that have taken top dollar and in return delivering nothing. Hope Mahela can prove otherwise.

What about clash between IPL 2012 and England Sri Lanka test series? Mahela arrived late in England last year from IPL and was not properly prepared to play test cricket. His poor performance was one of the contrubting factors for our loss in that series.
