the rest of the country will refer to this as "Mahasen"

Ayyo salli. We've got more severe issues to be concerned about than a name of a cyclone. By the way Anuradhapura King's name is Mahasena, not Mahasen.

Do we have any queen named "Priya"??? :)

Can someone please explain why this aversion to the name "Mahesan". I read in some other article that it is a Sri Lankan King's name. If that is so, then what is averse about it?

There are special characters in Sri Lanka willing to use their family name to call any rubbish. Why not use such family name to call this Cyclone too !
