Slain Sri Lankan Editor Lasantha Wickrematunga has been named the 53rd World Press Freedom Hero by the International Press Freedom Institute.
The nomination of Lasantha Wickrematunge was unanimously approved by the five-member IPI World Press Freedom Hero jury that had included Raymond Louw the Editor & Publisher of the Southern Africa Report; N. Ravi the Editor of The Hindu in India; Galina Sidorova Editor-in-Chief at Sovershenno Secretno in Russia; Ferai Tinc, Columnist at the Hürriyet Daily in Turkey; and H.D.S. Greenway, Columnist; former Editorial Page Editor, The Boston Globe, Boston, MA.
Wickrematunge will also be one of 60 World Press Freedom Heroes honoured in a ceremony to commemorate IPI’s 60th year of defending press freedom worldwide, at the IPI World Congress in

Yes, a Real Hero who did not hesitate at all to use his excellent talent as a journalist to expose the rogue politicians regardless of their status. "Unbowed and Unafraid". He even predicted his own tragic end at the hands of the murderous politicians. Let the whole world know the real story and what is really happening in this land.
