A Sri Lankan man in Dubai was sentenced to life imprisonment for the premeditated murder of his lover's husband. Life imprisonment carries a jail term of 25 years, according to UAE law.
The Dubai Court of First Instance sentenced 23-year-old R.K, a Sri Lankan, to life followed by deportation for murdering his compatriot.
R.K. appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance and denied the murder charge, claiming that he only wanted to quarrel with the victim, but did not intend to kill him.
According to Public Prosecutions records, the murder occurred in the Al Jafiliya area in June in a poorly-lit alley while the husband (J.P) and his wife were strolling hand-in-hand.
In a fit of rage, R.K. attacked J.P. with a knife, stabbing him in the back. R.K. ran away after the initial attack, but the victim chased him and the two engaged in a fight. The victim was stabbed again in the neck and chest before R.K. escaped.
Initially, the wife claimed that her husband was murdered by an African man. But upon further investigation, it was discovered that she and R.K. had been in a long-term affair without the husband's knowledge.
"The wife claimed that an African man stabbed her husband. We widened our investigations until some witnesses disclosed to us that R.K. was the wife's workmate and they were having an affair.
"When we summoned her for questioning, the wife admitted that the 23-year-old suspect allegedly killed her husband," testified a lieutenant who questioned the wife. The Emirati lieutenant discovered the affair between R.K. and the victim's wife. The wife then accused R.K. of murdering her husband because of his blind jealousy.
"She claimed to me that she was afraid of reporting R.K. because he was her lover and she alleged that the defendant stabbed J.P. because he [her husband] was sleeping with her," testified the lieutenant.
The wife (S.T.) was prosecuted before the Dubai Misdemeanours Court for having consensual sex with R.K. S.T was also prosecuted for aiding a criminal to escape justice, alongside R.K.'s mother who tried to help him flee the country before he was caught. (Gulf News)

Some S/ Lankans have no respect for law. If he dad murdered as said, he deserves punishment. Mind you there are 69 Lankans in jail for Drug offences, out of which 11 are supposed to be women. May be engaged in KASSIPU business. When these return they can advice how to prepare liquor with low alcohol content.

Hi, I am from Dubai and living very close to the Jaflia area. It is very very sad to mention there so many Sri Lankans living in Dubai are not leading decent life. They destroy the image of Sri Lanka. Especially, youth from Sri Lanka have come here behaving badly tarnishing our country's name very badly. All underworld gangs, thugs and fugitives have come from Sri Lanka and live here. Especially, housemaids are fallen to their hands easily and so often it happen here. Most of these youth are uneducated and doing notorious things in Dubai. Dubai is a peacefull place to live but these people have become menace to this place. This is very sad situation. They damage the image of Sri Lanka very badly.

If made into a movie, this story is bound to be a box office hit: It has all the ingredients for a good "masala" movie.

In sri lanka this guy would have got away, tor lack of proof...however, in dubai, investigation is thourough, no financial, political and sympathy can save him, lucky it is dubai, in saudi he will be beheaded...young man he had sex with his nepalese friends wife, then he sould forget and go about it with his next victim, and morever he killed her husband....with her supporting him to escape initially and later came down to accept her lovers mistake....why shoud sri lankan kill her nepalese man....in fact it is the nepalese husband who should confront him whther a knife, there is no logic in this killing.
