Lankan arrested with Rs. 4.4mn foreign currency

A Sri Lankan male was arrested this morning while attempting to smuggle out foreign currency worth Rs.4.4 million concealed inside his baggage at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).

Customs media spokesman Leslie Gamini said the suspect bound to Dubai was identified as a 30-year-old resident from Colombo and he had in his baggage US Dollars 5000, Oman Riyal 2,160, Saudi Riyal 20,000, Kuwait Dinar 14400, Qatar Riyal 10,500, UAE Dirham 27,500, Bahrain Dinar 200 and Sri Lankan Rupees 232,000.(Chaturanga Pradeep)
