Rathgama PS Chairman’s killing: Weapon recovered

A 21-year-old youth was yesterday arrested at Thewatte in connection with the killing of Rathgama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Manoj Pushpakumara Mendis and the weapon believed to have used in the killing was also recovered.

They said the micro weapon was recovered on information provided by this suspect.
Five suspects had been earlier remanded in connection with the killing.

The suspect will be produced in the Galle Magistrate’s Court today.

The former chairman was shot dead and two of his companions severely wounded in the shooting.

    Finally a different end to the story. Thanks to Yahapalanaya the convict did not get shot while trying to recover the weapon. via DM Android App

    Looks like all recent crimes are solved by Police as they are independent now. Earlier all inquiries held up for OK from MR or Gota or local politico and then shelved or proceeded slowly unless govt wanted immediate action if opposition involved.

    This should go in the Guiness book of records, where suspect did not get killed on the way to recover weapons in the company of Sri Lanka police.
