The Janatha Vimuthi Peramuna (JVP) which called the Aluthgama violence ‘totally unwarranted’ appealed to people from both the communities to exercise restraint and preserve law and order.
Addressing a hurriedly summoned news conference, JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva said people should act intelligently, without allowing their emotions to reign.
He said the JVP was averse to racism and therefore it had been able to reach out to both the communities at this moment.
Mr. Silva took a swipe at the government over what he described as ‘the irresponsible way of handling the situation’.
“Certain groups are considering themselves as a law unto themselves. Probably, the Government used such groups to arouse communalism for its political gain. The government is confronted with a lot of problems and as such may be considering to use communalism as a tool for political gain, “he said. (KB)

JVP should rally all three three communities Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim together and should talk for justice, freedom and liberty of all three communities. Only JVP could organise more inter communal harmony to avoid another 1983 July progrom..

When someone talks good of the JVP, we are reminded of the past by the "so called patriots". When it comes to the UNHRC investigation, the "so called patriots" say, forget the past and heal the wounds. What hypocrites these "so called patriots" are. Time to think intelligently and not blindly.

JVP should insist that the Government is liable for this catestrophy due to it's negligence and should insist that GOSL compensate all the victims.

Great American philosopher George Santayana once said Those who can not remember the past are condemned to repeat it.JVP Law and orderYes they have come a long way from being terrorists who wanted to take the country back to Stone Age.With Sri Lanka having 90% literacy rate no educated person can claim to want JVP to decide on Sri Lankas next chapter in its proud and turbulent history
