UNP Parliamentarian Dr. Jayalath Jayawardane has complained to Pope Benedict the XVI on what he called disturbing trends in Mannar and the threats allegedly faced by the Bishop of Mannar.
In a lengthy letter to the Pope, Dr. Jayawardane had also requested the Vatican to intervene in the matter.
A copy of the letter has been sent to the Catholic Bishops Conference in Sri Lanka as well.
Addressing a news conference in Colombo, Dr. Jayawardane said the government should take action to arrest this dangerous trend in Mannar. “Communalism in Mannar should be avoided at any cost as it is an area which is recovering after a 30 year old conflict,” he said. (YP)
I think people should complain to GOD of these corrupt short sighted politicians of all parties in SL.

The Pope cannot do anything about this, and the government is least bothered in bringing peace and harmony to the people of Sri Lanka. You and the UNP have not woken up from slumber. Doctor, do you not understand that it is the responsibility of your party to mobilise the people and generate action.

When LTTE and his bunch of Catholic priest going on rampage killing innocent people in SL in thousands, this guy didn't run anywhere to complain to stop that LTTE killing machine. All these God believing people are having psychotic disorders. hellucinations and hearing various voices. In short they meantally deranged. Best example is US!
