Both he and Weerasekara are buddies, friends and school mates. I am truly happy because I attended to the same school where Jayanath and Weerasekara studied My hats off to both of them for their success in Sri Lanka Navy.

He showed the quality to be Navay Commander well in advance.
Jayanath is not only a competent Naval Officer - He is a Quality Gentleman.

There are mate.... i know few muslims who work for Sri Lankan Army inteligence wing, specially because they are good in both tamil & sinhalese when it comes to comunication, and i believe there should be tamils in forces as well.
Ajith Tuesday, 25 September 2012 09:55 AM
Sach,
Understood.. But what I tried to say is, that I think, we dont have tamils in the forces, so it is not possible for us to appoint a Tamil to the post...

The question is why tamils are not recruited like they once were even at the bottom ranks?
sach Tuesday, 25 September 2012 06:08 AM
selecting an army head or navy head is not a cultural variety show. The suitable persons should come from bottom to top ranks with experience and capability. That is the criteria not race. If there is a tamil, muslim or burgher among the candidates, he will get it.

I thought Rear Admiral S. M. B. Weerasekera was more suitable considering his role during the war...
