Jaffna police top brass transferred

SSP, SP and ASP of the Jaffna division and the HQIs of Kayts and Jaffna police stations have been transferred with immediate effect, police said.

They have been transferred on service requirements with the approval of public order ministry secretary.

Good move assuring the public.Public anger was because when the parents complained to the Police, irresponsible response such as she could have run away with the boy friend, was given.Police came running only after when they were told of the sighting of the body.

I found strange when I saw that a police officer in Jaffna spoke in Sinhala towards the public during a meeting with protesters/family of victim. Because Jaffna is a Tamil dominated city and I would expect all the police officers there can speak Tamil. How can Tamil people report there problems to these police officers?

Let the mills of justice grind and grind faster than its usual lethargic speed. The stock joke in all most all oriental films is the lethargy of the police and belly bulge of the policeman. It is unfortunate that we have to bear these.

what is the point of transferring, they will do the same where ever they serve. They should be remove from service and government should make sure that they put honest efficient people in these areas.. these people already suffered from bitter war...if these things continue we would be facing another war in near future...

Transferring Police Personnel is not the best solution! Ensure they are not eligible for promotions, pay increases for 5 years as well! Even demote them!

I Agree. Those officers might be happy to have the transfer. Government officials, especially police, Military and Prison, must be subjected to disciplinary actions for these types of failings and death under their custody.
