While assuring the safety of Sri Lankan Cricketers who will take part in the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Indian Cricket board (BCCI) has informed Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) that it would even go ‘as far as to tell franchises to leave out Lankan players when playing in Chennai,’ if they felt that the cricketers were at risk.

SLC CEO Ajit Jayasekara told Daily Mirror Online that SLC had written to its Indian counterparts regarding the current developments in Tamil Nadu.

“The Indian Cricket board has assured us that it would take steps to ensure the security of the Sri Lankan players. The board has informed us that if the need arises it would even go as far as to tell the franchises scheduled to play in Chennai to leave out the Sri Lankan players,” he said.

Mr. Jayasekara said the country’s cricket governing body has written to the Ministries of Sports, External Affairs and Defense requesting their advice on the matter.

“We will also educate every player scheduled to participate on the ground situation in India,” he added.(Hafeel Farisz)

So if security is such an issue, don't go to bloody India. Bloody shameless, spineless, selfish, money hungry cricketers. Boycott the bloody IPL on the grounds of Sri Lankans being attacked. Humanity is more important than money.

    amigo Sunday, 24 March 2013 12:51 PM

lol rest india dont even care or even know there is a problem so who cares..

    Nodrog Sunday, 24 March 2013 04:50 AM

But it is a fact the cricketers will only move their asses if the price is right. Their recent performances do not justify the mighty salaries they are being paid.

    sam Sunday, 24 March 2013 03:26 AM

The players concern would have made a big deal out of this if they were going to represent Sri Lanka. Now they are mum about it and dont even say a word. Power of money.

It's disgusting to read some of the comments posted here, humiliating our cricketers who have brought lots of glory to our country. Their earning capacity is there only for a short period and they are doing it legitimately. Grow up my friends!

    Hamden Saturday, 23 March 2013 08:18 AM

    Well said!

    Rohan Saturday, 23 March 2013 03:28 AM

Why we go there ??? Leave IPL and stay at home.

India is not a safe place to visit anyway. They are mad and mad to their bones. See what they practicing, such as caste system, which demeaning and devaluing the very concept of .humanity..

    ss Friday, 22 March 2013 11:40 AM

at least they are earning it honestly unlike most power brokers in SL

    Huna Friday, 22 March 2013 11:36 AM

Goo goo goo Friday, 22 March 2013 11:11 AM

PK Ranawaka Friday, 22 March 2013 09:44 AM

No problem. Even if Indians assulted us like they did in Chennai, we do not mind. We srilankans crcketers need money.
We are willing to get beaten to earn a half million dollars.

    weere Friday, 22 March 2013 10:52 AM

all srilankan players for IPL must withdraw as a true srilankans supporting the country.

    lionheart Friday, 22 March 2013 10:45 AM

The cricketers (atleast the seniors) are too unpatriotic to have a look at the videos where the monks were assaulted and boycott IPL this time. That would be a great achievemnt for SL. But sadly having sold thier soul to India on the cricket field (last five years ODI series and WC 2011) they do not have the guts to take a patriotic decision. Sad that we go to grounds and cry ourselves hoarse for some ungratefull money monger mudalali's, Absolute waste of time. To hell with the Sri Lankan cricketers. Let them get bashed and I will be happy. But someone please post the videos for me to watch them getting bashed.

    rumi Friday, 22 March 2013 10:38 AM

we have blunder politicians in the government-they should realize the future of our generation and we cannot be isolated from world. We are nothing -we all of are not together..

    chamila Friday, 22 March 2013 10:35 AM

I am pretty sure all the players will ready to play IPL for money. However they will not never play for the country by taking such risk. There are no national cricketers only personal cricketers

    Anu Friday, 22 March 2013 10:27 AM

Players GOD is money. Like most of our Politicians player also don't worry about mother Sri Lanka. So why worry?

    shan Friday, 22 March 2013 10:23 AM

As a matter of Principal.. These players should this time not go and play the IPL.. No doubt money is more important to them. No that they will be poor for skipping one IPL season. If they do and get assaulted.. Dam Good.

    YO Friday, 22 March 2013 10:18 AM

Shame on you Sri Lankan Cricketers. You value money over your dignity as Sri Lankans. If you guys are true LIONS you all should boycot playing in INDIA. Anyway you guys do not play for the country anymore, just for money. No self repect.

    Mr. Ajith Jayasekara,

I think what you all should do is to refrain from sending players to participate in IPL. Mayble you guys also don't want to do that if you were given some money keep you quiet.

Ravi Seneviratne Friday, 22 March 2013 10:13 AM

Its going to test the characters of players , Like to see how the players will react to the present situation. Money or Country

    Grace Friday, 22 March 2013 10:11 AM

Prevention is better then cure. Do not go to India till the situation cools down there.

    clueless Friday, 22 March 2013 10:11 AM

    I too don't mind

Calistus Jayatilleke Friday, 22 March 2013 10:04 AM

The situation would have been different if our cricketers were asked to go to Chennai to represent their country citing danger to their lives, but in the case of IPL they would gladly go even at the risk of their lives, because of the loads of money involved.
