The government has decided to give an incentive to government employees to learn an additional local language, Prime Minister D.M.Jayarathne said.

The Premier added that the government expect Sinhalese speaking employees to learn Tamil and Tamil speaking employees to learn Sinhalese in the future.

Most of the problems we are facing today could have been solved if everyone new an additional language. “As an important part of the current development process the government employees should know an additional languages which will make the government service a more efficient one”, the Premier said.
