The international Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has been approached by the family of General Sarath Fonseka to find out where he is being held and establish contact with him.
ICRC spokesperson Sarasi Wijeratna, speaking to Daily Mirror online, said that following the request by the family the organization is in the process of liaising with the concerned authorities and the family.
General Fonseka was arrested by the military police yesterday and according to his wife she does not know where he is being held and he has some medical complications.
However when contacted, Military Spokesman Major General Prasad Samarasingha said that General Fonseka's wife has visited him today and has been granted visiting rights. (Daily Mirror online)

ICRC should make the International community aware of this cowardly and illegal abduction of a former presidential candidate and potential parliamentarian. Long live SF.
Tuesday, 09 February 2010 04:49 PM
If you would have voted for SF, then your request would have been granted, but with a ruthless ruler who kicked the ladder after ctlimbing up, how could you expect justice.
Tuesday, 09 February 2010 04:52 PM
Yes, its reasonable but from a Leader who is a Dictator you cannot expect these good moves. Only General would have met your reasonable request, but !!!!!!

Wise comment from a wise SriLankan Citizen. Yes, we need people like you to combat the nasty, un-cultured idiotical rulers of our nation. Lets pray for General to come out victoriously
Tuesday, 09 February 2010 04:59 PM
Exactly, ICRC must intervene and bring out Great Leader back and teach Mahinda a good lesson this time.
Tuesday, 09 February 2010 06:40 PM
Ruthless leaders have no reason, to reason. They are bent on only one objective - destroy those who oppose them! ... In Sri Lanka, there is no serendipity ...

Never expect democracy from a person who does not know how to pronounce the term properly ...
